Seminar on Strengthening Universal Health Coverage for the fight against Anti-Microbial Resistance

On September 7, 2017, a seminar was held at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo, as part of this ongoing global movement to combat Anti Microbial Resistance (AMR). This was the 102nd chapter of the WHO’s flagship Global Health Histories seminars, which were established as an official activity within the WHO headquarters and Regional Offices. 

This seminar was titled ‘Strengthening Universal Health Coverage for the fight against Anti-Microbial Resistance’. 

The panel of speakers were 

Dr. Suranga Dolamulla, Sri Lanka’s Director of Tertiary Healthcare 

Professor Sanjoy Bhattacharya, Professor of History of Medicine and the Head of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Global Health Histories in the UK, 

Dr Lakshmi Somatunga, the Deputy Director General for Medical Services, 

Dr. BVSH Beneragama, Deputy Director General for Laboratory Services, 

Dr. Sunil De Alwis, the Deputy Director General for Education, Training & Research in the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health 

Dr. Kushlani Jayatilake, Consultant Microbiologist, Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital 

Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Deputy Director General for the National Hospital of Sri Lanka.
